Description
The Sex Pistols were a British punk band. One of the bands that started the genre in England, they are the ones who made it known to a larger audience, influencing many later bands both musically and establishing punk as a fashion, with the support of their manager and fashion designer Malcolm McLaren. The group formed in 1975 and essentially disbanded in 1978 with the departure of singer Johnny Roten. Notable member Sid Vicious, bassist who died of a drug overdose. Johnny Rotten went on to have a successful career with Public Image Limited. In 2002 the Sex Pistols reunited for a series of concerts.
