Slipknot is an American Metal band from Des Moines, Iowa. Formed in September 1995 by Paul Gray (bass), Sean Crahan (percussion) and Joey Jordison (drums). After the death of Paul Gray in May 2010 and the departure of Joey Jordison in 2013, Sean Crahan remained the sole founding member. The band members met through the local music scene. That’s how their friends Anders Kolsefni (vocals) and Donny Steele (guitar) joined the band. Shortly after their collaboration, Gray called on his friend Joey Jordison because the band wanted to experiment with an additional percussion sound. Eventually Jordison joined the band as lead drummer displacing Sean Crahan on custom percussion.
